Universal Universal Kickboxing & Jiu-Jitsu is a program that promotes safe and healthy lifestyles through the sport of kickboxing  & jiu-jitsu while building strong and responsible character in each student. 



Why join Universal Kickboxing & Jiu-Jitsu?
Because you want more out of life. Because you want to tell your friends you're a kickboxer. Because you need to fit into an old pair of jeans. Because your job and family are driving you nuts and you need to kick something or choke someone out. Because you're going to be the next UFC, WEC and K-1 champion all in the same year. Everyone has their reasons...you're entitled to yours too.

Can I train in multiple programs?
Yes. If it's affordable for you, train yourself to become a well rounded martial arts athlete!

What is Freestyle Kickboxing?
Freestyle is a blend of Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Boxing.

Can I train to compete under Team Universal?
Absolutely. Our kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, boxing and MMA programs all have competition programs within. Competitions for these programs are held in Phoenix, and all over the country.

Do I have to train to compete if I join a program?
Of course not. Many of our members train with us for the shear training edge to meet their fitness goals or to be a weekend warrior.

If I join a striking program, do I have to spar in the ring with others?
Nope. Sparring is only for "Sparring Program and Competition students" that wish to test their boxing or kickboxing against others in your class. So, if you don't like striking others, getting punched in the face, kicked in the head or a knee to the ribs.....sparring is not for you. 

What ages can train at Universal Kickboxing & Jiu-Jitsu?
KB ages 8-12 is Youth classes and Adults are 13 yrs old up to any healthy age still able to punch and kick without falling over. 
BJJ ages 6-12 is Youth classes and Adults are 13 yrs and up to any age without your limbs falling off.

Do I have to be in shape to join?
Of course not. Everyone has to start somewhere. Join our program to get in shape!

Will I lose weight?
That's up to you. If you're serious about losing weight then you'll choose a lifestyle that promotes healthy eating so your training is productive. Do you think competitors go the distance in a fight from junk food?

Does kickboxing really burn 800 calories an hour?
Well, currently the record in our program from a student is 1750 calories burned in a class. Measured from our Polar fitness monitor.

How many classes can I attend?
Up to 6 days per week or as much as your body can handle, which ever comes first.

Do I have to train only on specific days?
No. We allow you to create your own attendance schedule to fit your lifestyle needs. If you can't make classes, then use the Open Gym times.
But if you're slackin, you'll be reminded to step it up.

Do I need training gear?
Kickboxers and boxers wear hand wraps and training gloves when training. We have gear for you to use and for you to purchase. Don't buy the junk from the sporting good stores, because it wont last.
BJJ students train in Gi's.

Will kickboxing improve my flexibility?
Absolutely. Performing kicks and using the stretching routines in our program will increase your flexibility so can round kick your friends and family all day long.
